Few weeks back bought an 84 ford capri 2.0 s automatic. Bodywork and everything is in amazin condition and well looked after. He said it would need an engine tune up and i wanted it serviced anyway so i knew it had new belts etc. Then the garage told me the carb was knackerd and then took him 2 weeks to locate one. Got it back the other day 3 weeks later and its worse than when i took it.
The auto gearbox dont change until its at 4500 revs then grabs at the gears. It overheats in no time and it seems low on power. Im no mechanic but want to learn a few things about fixing cars. Orderd a haynes manual to get started.
So he changed the thermostat and carb and i now have a huge air filter on where as i had a little one on before. I think the head gasket has gone now.any suggestions?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
