TOPIC: Restoration of gas tank

Restoration of gas tank 8 years 11 months ago #170

Hey all,

Just wanted to pass on the following to anybody who is considering having their gas tank re-conditioned:

www.gastankrenu.com

I had mine done by these folks and they did a superb job, even tested my sending unit for me. Fortunately my sending unit still worked, I just needed a gasket (thanks Norm!). As an afterthought, I gave them the filler neck after we discussed price and they included it at no extra charge! Turnaround was about a week and it looks fantastic. Their warranty is honored wherever they have dealers, now up to seventeen states, but not transferrable to another owner should you sell your car.

Can you send in a tank? Or is it only a walk in facility? If they don't have a dealer close to you, it would be nice to be able to mail it in.

I'm not 100% sure. It probably depends on the dealer and whether they want to mess with shipping and handling. I suspect most will if there's a profit to be made. Best to contact the dealer you're thinking of using. I waited 'til I was in the area of my dealer, and then walked in with the tank. As a salesman, I have appointments all over the Mpls/St. Paul area and the dealer is about an hour from where I live.
